UNITE's mission and vision statement

The vision is:

"To be a premier conflict resolution service."

The Mission Statement is:

"UNITE is a high quality mediation and conciliation service committed to bringing about early resolution to conflict in society. Through encouraging those in dispute to come together to resolve their differences, UNITE promotes undersanding, respect and agreement among people. In achieving this end UNITE endeavours to identify and meet all services users’ needs."

Since its establishment in 1993 as a pilot mediation scheme operating on three estates in Middlesbrough, UNITE has grown to become one of the largest schemes in the UK.

Accredited by Mediation UK since 1996, this year UNITE was the first independent mediation service to be awarded the prestigious Community Legal Services Quality Mark. In April 2000, UNITE also achieved the Investors in People award. This was re-recognised in 2002 and 2004.

We offer a range of services: community mediation, conciliation or workplace mediation, restorative justice services, homelessness mediation and training.
