Becoming a Mediator
UNITE regularly delivers accredited Community Mediation Skills training courses for people interested in becoming UNITE volunteer mediators. At the end of the course suitable trainees are recruited by UNITE as probationary volunteer mediators. They can then start working towards Competent Mediator Status. UNITE volunteer mediators receive regular top-up training and supervision to improve their practice.
With sufficient training and experience, UNITE mediators can specialise in, for example, conciliation or restorative justice.
UNITE also delivers:
- workplace mediation / conciliation training to organisations that wish to develop mediation skills for their own staff.
- victim / offender mediation skills training.
- accredited mediation supervision training.
- short courses to help people develop their communication skills.
