UNITE can provide a confidential Staff Support Service for your employees.
UNITE has a proven track record in helping people in the community to
explore and resolve their issues. The service provides a safe and resourceful
space, outside of the work environment, for employees to explore ways
to resolve their issues.
How does it work?
During an initial session with a UNITE Staff Support team member, the
level of support the staff member may need will be assessed. They will
then be allocated to one of UNITE’s team of fully trained and experienced
Staff Supporters, who will offer up to six further one-hour sessions.
UNITE’s focus is on supporting and empowering the individual. Staff
Supporters will not give advice or tell the member of staff what to do,
instead, they will help them to explore their situation and arrive at
their own decisions.
What if the employee needs a different kind of service?
There may be occasions when the issues involve other colleagues and in
such cases, UNITE’s Workplace Mediation service may be appropriate.
Mediation offers an informal way to resolve issues confidentially, constructively
and amicably. Following separate interviews with all parties involved,
mediators arrange a meeting where everybody can discuss their issues and
voice their feelings. The mediator acts as a neutral third party, to help
people identify ways to avoid further conflict and bring about an improvement
in their future working relationship.
In cases where it is felt that the service provided by another organisation
would be more appropriate for the staff member’s needs, UNITE’s
Signposting Procedure will be followed and a referral to that organisation
can be made with their permission.
